Step-by-Step Guide

This guide walks you through how to buy and sell materials on Build Mat Mart, from start to finish.

For Buyers

1. Browse or Search

Browse: Explore available materials and filter by category, price and distance from your location to discover items that match your needs.

Click on the search icon in the top bar without entering any key word OR select "Browse All" from the top bar dropdown menu.
Use the option on the left hand side of the listing page to filter by category, price and distance.
Use the sort option on the top right to sort results by age and price.

Search: Find specific materials quickly by using keywords, type, or description.

Use the search bar at the top of page or on the homepage to enter keywords.
Use the option on the left hand side of the listing page to filter by category, price and distance.
Use the sort option on the top right to sort results by age and price.

2. Review Listing Details

Click on the listing to review photos, price, description, condition, delivery/collection options & the seller's profile.

The price, description, condition, delivery options, location & seller's profile are all shown on the listing page.
View more information on the seller by selecting "View Profile" under the seller's name at the bottom of the listing. Here you can see their reviews and other items they have listed.

To ask the seller any questions or discuss delivery/collection use the "Contact" option under the seller's name at the bottom of the listing.

Messaging can be accessed using the "Inbox" option in the top bar when you are signed in to your account.

3. Purchase or Make an Offer

Purchase: If you’re satisfied with the listing details, or have received the information you need from the seller, you can proceed at the listed price by clicking the "Buy Now" button.

If applicable, select the number of items you wish to purchase.

Make an Offer: If you’d like to negotiate, use the "Make an Offer" button to submit your preferred price to the seller..

Enter the amount you would like to offer using numbers only ($ symbol is not required) and submit to the seller to review.
If the seller accepts you will be sent a notification with a link to the payment screen at the new accepted price.
The seller may make a counter offer, you will receive a notification with an offer for you to accept or decline. If accepted you will be taken to the payment screen at the new accepted price.
If the seller declines your offer you will be notified.

4. Pay Securely

Complete your payment securely through Build Mat Mart powered by Stripe. Your funds are protected in escrow and only released once you confirm the materials have been received as agreed.

Enter your card details, billing details and any addition information you whish to display to the seller.
Click "Confirm and pay" to complete the order.
You will be taken to the order confirmation page. Here you can see the order details, order history and messaging to the seller. You can access this page in your inbox at any time.

5. Arrange Delivery or Pickup

Arrange delivery or collection directly with the seller after purchase, based on the options selected in the listing.

Delivery: Arrange delivery with the seller in the messaging function.

Ensure unloading, site access, and any other important details are confirmed in advance to avoid delivery issues.

Pickup: Arrange pickup with the seller in the messaging function.

Ensure loading, site access, and any other important details are confirmed in advance to avoid pickup issues.
Ensure seller is aware of the pickup time and avoid arriving unannounced.
Ensure that your pickup vehicle is suitable for the load being collected.
Do not forget to take necessary covers, straps, tie downs, etc to secure the load.

Outsource your pickup to a courier/logistics company if required

6. Receive Materials

At delivery or collection, inspect the materials to ensure they match the listing description, including condition and quantity.

Do not accept receipt of the materials if they differ from the listing or you are not satisfied with the purchase.

If you are satisfied with the materials, take receipt as planned.

7. Confirm Completion

Confirm completion once you have taken receipt of the materials, allowing the funds to be released to the seller.

Open the order confirmation page, located in your inbox.
Click the "I've received my order" button.
This updates the order to received.

8. Funds Released

Once you have confirmed you have received your order, the funds will automatically be released to the seller.

9. Leave A Review

Leave a review to share your experience and help other users make informed decisions.

Open the order page located in your inbox.
Rate your experience and leave a review.

Once reviews have been exchanged, the order status will be updated to completed

For Sellers

1. Create a Listing

Click "Post a new listing" located in the top bar on every page.

Details Section:

Select the category for your materials, add a title, provide a more detailed description & confirm the condition.

Pricing & Stock Section:

Set your price. Enter numbers only ($ symbol is not required).
For single items or bulk listings sold as one lot, select stock as 1.
Otherwise, enter the total stock quantity available.

Delivery Section:

Choose for buyer to pick up, you to arrange delivery or both to give the buyer the option.

For arranging the delivery, the seller has the option to charge an additional fee and set a delivery radius. Enter the fee using number only ($ symbol is not required).

Photo Section:

Add 2-3 clear photos for your materials.

2. Add Payout Details

If you haven't already, add your payout details to your account (Buyers will not be able to complete purchase if this step ha not been completed).

To add your payout details:

Click on your account icon in the top right of the top bar.
Go to "Account Settings"
On the right side select "Payout Details" and complete the information requested.

2. Receive Enquiries or Offers

Receive Enquiries: Buyers are able to message directly with any queries. - ##### Notification will be sent for new mail.

Your inbox is located on the right side of the top bar.

Offers: Buyers are able to make offers through the Build Mat Mart platform.

Notification will be sent on receipt of any new offers. These can be found in your inbox under the side selection of "As a seller".
You have the option to accept the offer, reject the offer or make a counter offer.
On acceptance of the offer or counter offer, the buyer will be sent a notification with a link to the payment screen at the new accepted price.

4. Buyer Pays Securely

The buyer pays securely through Build Mat Mart powered by Stripe. Their funds are protected in escrow and only released once the materials have been received by the buyer.

5. Arrange Delivery or Pickup

Arrange delivery or collection directly with the buyer after purchase, based on the option selected by the buyer.

Delivery: Arrange delivery with the buyer in the messaging function.

Ensure unloading, site access, and any other important details are confirmed in advance to avoid delivery issues.

Pickup: Arrange pickup with the buyer in the messaging function.

Ensure loading, site access, and any other important details are confirmed in advance to avoid pickup issues.
Ensure buyer is aware of the pickup restriction.

Outsource your delivery to a courier/logistics company if required

6. Complete the Transaction

At delivery or collection, the buyer should inspect the materials to ensure they are satisfied with the order

Do not hand over materials if they the buyer is not satisfied with the purchase.

Confirm completion once the buyer has collected or you have delivered/shipped the materials

Open the order confirmation page, located in your inbox.
Click the "Materials delivered/collected" button.
This updates the order to await confirmation from the buyer.

7. Buyer Confirms Receipt

The buyer is required to confirm receipt of the order.

Once confirmed buy the buyer, funds will be released to you. A notification will be sent upon release of funds.

8. Get Paid

Funds will be paid into the bank account provided in the payout details

Funds will be released instantly, time for funds to clear will depend on Stripe and you banking provider.
Commission fee will be deducted from the sale amount.

9. Leave A Review

Leave a review to share your experience and help other users make informed decisions.

Open the order page located in your inbox.
Rate your experience and leave a review.

2. Review Listing Details

Click on the listing to review photos, price, description, condition, delivery/collection options & the seller's profile.

The price, description, condition, delivery options, location & seller's profile are all shown on the listing page.

View more information on the seller by selecting "View Profile" under the seller's name at the bottom of the listing. Here you can see their reviews and other items they have listed.

To ask the seller any questions or discuss delivery/collection use the "Contact" option under the seller's name at the bottom of the listing.

Messaging can be accessed using the "Inbox" option in the top bar when you are signed in to your account.

3. Purchase or Make an Offer

Purchase: If you’re satisfied with the listing details, or have received the information you need from the seller, you can proceed at the listed price by clicking the "Buy Now" button.

If applicable, select the number of items you wish to purchase.

Make an Offer: If you’d like to negotiate, use the "Make an Offer" button to submit your preferred price to the seller..

Enter the amount you would like to offer using numbers only ($ symbol is not required) and submit to the seller to review.

If the seller accepts you will be sent a notification with a link to the payment screen at the new accepted price.

The seller may make a counter offer, you will receive a notification with an offer for you to accept or decline. If accepted you will be taken to the payment screen at the new accepted price.

If the seller declines your offer you will be notified.

4. Pay Securely

Complete your payment securely through Build Mat Mart powered by Stripe. Your funds are protected in escrow and only released once you confirm the materials have been received as agreed.

Ensure seller is aware of the pickup time and avoid arriving unannounced.

Ensure that your pickup vehicle is suitable for the load being collected.

Do not forget to take necessary covers, straps, tie downs, etc to secure the load.

Outsource your pickup to a courier/logistics company if required

6. Receive Materials

At delivery or collection, inspect the materials to ensure they match the listing description, including condition and quantity.

7. Confirm Completion

Confirm completion once you have taken receipt of the materials, allowing the funds to be released to the seller.

Open the order confirmation page, located in your inbox.

Click the "I've received my order" button.

This updates the order to received.

8. Funds Released

Once you have confirmed you have received your order, the funds will automatically be released to the seller.

9. Leave A Review

Leave a review to share your experience and help other users make informed decisions.

Open the order page located in your inbox.

Rate your experience and leave a review.

Once reviews have been exchanged, the order status will be updated to completed

Click "Post a new listing" located in the top bar on every page.

Details Section:

2. Add Payout Details
